How to become a vegetarian when you love meat?

After watching a video in school about the animals and how they're treated, it made me not want to eat meat. It made me sad. But I love meat, my family are meat eaters and they have been forever. They cook it a lot, and I love it. But i want to stop, but its hard. Especially when I'm in an environment with it around.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Try starting a little at a time. Like stop eating pork first, then beef, then chicken, then fish. Going vegetarian is a long process.

In my Environmental Science class we watched a video that made a couple people stop eating meat because we learned about "pink slime". Meat provides you with nutrients that you need. Man was meant to eat meat. It's why we have canines and molars. If you become a vegetarian you'll have to take a whole bunch of vitamins to get all the things you're missing in your diet.

Eating meat is a part of nature and is a good thing. Does a lion say sorry after he tears apart a gazette? Sometimes humans are a bit too sensitive but you're right. They are treated unfairly in the process of making them ready to be sold at grocery markets. You can start eating local-farm raised meat which is healthier and they are treated right before being slaughtered, but it's a lot harder to find. I was grossed out one point too. But then I saw a McDonald's commercial. Lol Trust me you'll forget about it soon enough.

eat vegetarian burgers, never ate them but some say it taste good. Don't force yourself if you don't want to be a vegetarian. the Lord said Noah could eat the animals.

I would bet that 99% of vegetarians came from meat eating families and also enjoyed meat, but if you want to do this, you will need to learn a different way of eating. Nowadays, there are so many alternatives for vegetarians and vegans that it REALLY isn't hard, it's just different.

I ate meat (yes, and loved it) for the first 47 years of my life and when I saw a video I stopped that day. A little over one year later, I decided to become vegan. If you are motivated to stop... you just stop. There is no getting over anything..... you just need to educate yourself about the wide variety of ways you can replace meat... and then learn to cook a little. Think of it as training for when you move out on your own.

Find someone that will go vegetarian (or even better, vegan) with you. It makes it way easier to have a friend to keep you in check and share your yummy new recipes with. It is actually pretty fun to take a regular recipe and figure out how to make it vegan. Once you do this for a couple of weeks you won't even want meat anymore, it will seem heavy and gross. The Veganomicon an awesome cookbook to get you started.
